Privacy
BridgeLifts is built to answer a simple travel question without asking you to create an account.
Effective August 4, 2026
What we collect
We do not offer user accounts, sell personal information, run behavioral advertising, or place tracking cookies. Like most websites, our server and security provider may briefly record basic request information such as your IP address, browser type, requested page, time, and security signals. This helps deliver the site, prevent abuse, and diagnose problems.
App telemetry
The iOS app records one anonymous launch count per app process, aggregated by day, app version, iOS version, and notification-permission state. It does not include an account, installation identifier, advertising identifier, location, or a per-device event history. We use these totals to maintain compatibility and notification reliability, and retain them for up to 400 days.
Push notifications
If you enable notifications in the iOS app, BridgeLifts stores an Apple Push Notification service device token, a random installation identifier, the bridges you follow, your alert and quiet-hours preferences, time zone, locale, app version, and delivery diagnostics. We use this information only to send and operate the notifications you request. Apple receives the notification and related delivery information under Apple’s applicable privacy terms. You can disable notifications in iOS Settings; installation data is disabled when the app unregisters or Apple reports that its token is no longer valid.
Map requests
The river map uses tiles from OpenStreetMap. When the map loads, your device requests those map images from OpenStreetMap’s tile service, which may receive your IP address and browser request details. OpenStreetMap’s own privacy practices apply to those requests.
Bridge and vessel information
The bridge reports and vessel positions shown on BridgeLifts describe public infrastructure and river traffic. The public vessel view does not include raw AIS messages or vessel tracking identifiers. We do not use bridge or vessel information to build profiles of site visitors.
How long we keep information
Routine website logs are normally kept for no more than 30 days. We may keep limited records longer when reasonably needed to investigate abuse, protect the service, meet a legal obligation, or resolve a reliability problem.
Who receives information
We use service providers needed to host, secure, and deliver BridgeLifts, including Cloudflare when the public tunnel is enabled. These providers process request information on our behalf and under their own applicable terms. We do not sell or rent visitor information.
Your choices
You can use the main bridge information without an account. You may block map tiles in your browser, though the map background will not appear. Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights concerning personal information in server logs.
Children
BridgeLifts is a general public information service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the service changes. The effective date above will show the latest revision. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to [email protected].
